Sysdig On-Premises Release Support

Sysdig is committed to providing reliable and efficient support for the on-premises version of Sysdig Platform. This document outlines the support policy for the Sysdig On-Premises, including our version support and end-of-support policies.

Sysdig On-Premises Release Versioning System

Sysdig utilizes a semantic versioning system for On-Premises releases. Each release version number is in the format of X.Y.Z, where X is the major version, Y is the minor version, and Z is the hotfix version, if there is one. Here is what each version category signifies:

Major Versions (X)

A major release is defined as having significant changes to the software, such as changes in architecture, addition of infrastructure components and major services.

Minor Versions (Y)

A minor release typically includes new features, performance enhancements or vulnerability fixes.

Hotfix (Z)

A hotfix is created when an issue is identified, either in the field or internally, that requires an immediate fix. They do not introduce new features but instead aim to improve the stability and reliability of the software.

See the Sysdig On-Premises Releases Notes for specific changes introduced with each release version.

Support Period and Details

Customers who run Sysdig On-Premises are encouraged to stay up to date with the latest releases. By staying up to date on releases, customers ensure that they benefit from new features and defect fixes that Sysdig has to offer.

Sysdig provides support for all minor releases for an 18-month period from their initial release date. For example, v6.9.x i.e v6.9.0 was released in February 2024 and will be supported until August 2025. Also if a hotfix v.6.9.1 released in March 2024, it will not change the end of support date for v.6.9.x, in this case August 2025.

If an issue is found in a supported version, customers are expected to upgrade to the latest available version with the fix. If none of the existing versions has the fix, a fix will be made available in an upcoming minor release. For example, if an issue arises in v6.9 and it is first fixed in v6.11 then the customer is expected to upgrade to v6.11 or higher.

Support for Vulnerabilities

Additionally, Sysdig will use commercially reasonable efforts to fix the known and impacting vulnerabilities for the most recent On-Premises release. This will include critical, high, medium, and low CVE severities. For critical and high vulnerabilities that are not fixed with the latest minor version, Sysdig can provide a Security Advisory document that details the impact exposure.

Extended Support Phase

Once a release has become unsupported, Sysdig will continue with an extended support phase for the release for 6 months following sunset of a particular release. Extended support is limited to configuration assistance and technical guidance for upgrades to supported versions. It will not cover engineering support for new feature requests, bug fixes, security patches or any type of support for non-production deployments (collectively, “Extended Support”).
