Configure a Google Chat Channel

Sysdig Monitor supports sending alerts to Google Chat through a webhook integration. For example, you can configure an alert to notify on-call personnel on Google Chat when a Kubernetes cluster in your infrastructure goes down.

Prerequisites

Configure Google Chat

To automatically push Sysdig Monitor alerts to the Google Chat, register the webhook in the Google Chat space where you want to receive messages, then copy the URL:

  1. Open Google Chat in a web browser.

  2. Click New Chat, then Create a space you want to use for the webhook notifications.

  3. Select the space that you have created for the webhook.

  4. Click the drop-down arrow next to the name of the space, and select Apps & Integrations, then Add webhooks.

  5. Specify the following:

    1. Name: Specify a unique name for your webhook. For example, Sysdig.

    2. Avatar URL: Optional: Specify the URL of an avatar image you might want to add to the webhook.

  6. Click Save.

    Your new webhook will appear under Webhooks.

  7. Copy the full webhook link. You can click the three-dot menu icon and then Copy link.

Configure Sysdig Monitor

  1. Complete steps 1-3 in Set Up a Notification Channel and select Google Chat.

  2. Enter the Google Chat channel configuration options:

    • URL: Paste the full webhook link.

    • Channel Name: Enter a descriptive name.

    • Enabled: Toggle to turn the channel on or off.

    • Notify when Resolved: Toggle to send a notification when the alert condition is no longer triggered.

    • Notify when Acknowledged: Toggle to send a notification when the alert is manually acknowledged by a user.

    • Test notification: Toggle to send a test notification when saving changes.

    • Shared With: Choose whether to share this channel with All Teams or a specific team.

    • Configure Test Notification: Select the severity and alert type of the test notification.

  3. Click Save.
